For some time now, God has led me to the book of Joel. This is a book that I have read time and time again, but as I read, God began to shed new light on the verses.
Joel 2:12-17 says this:
12 "Even now," declares the LORD,"return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning."13 Rend your heart and not
your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and
compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents
from sending calamity. 14 Who knows? He may turn and have pity and
leave behind a blessing— grain offerings and drink offerings for
the LORD your God. 15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy
fast, call a sacred assembly. 16 Gather the people, consecrate the
assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those
nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the
bride her chamber. 17 Let the priests, who minister before the LORD,
weep between the temple porch and the altar. Let them say, "Spare
your people, O LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of
scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the
peoples, 'Where is their God?'"
As I look around and see the stat of my generation, many people would say, look at all of those dead and dry bones. I say to you, you are wrong. My generation is alive! My generation has a passion like no other generation before it.
My generation desires something to fill a void in their lives. Many try to fill that void in their lives with money, sex, social agendas, alcohol, drugs, homosexuality, knowledge and the list could go on. God says that his yoke is easy and his burden is lite. Many in my generation are searching for something. They don't know what it is so they search. What they are searching for is peace. True peace only comes from God. Am I saying I am perfect, no, no one is perfect. I was a sinner set free through the blood of Jesus Christ just like many of you.
So what am I trying to say? I am saying to you it is time to raise! It is time to stand in the gap for our generation! It is time to say to the devil, you have crossed the line and now you must get out! It is time to stand and intercede on behalf of our generation. It is time to say that we will fight for those who do not have a voice. Their voice has been silenced, but through the prayers and intercession of all of us, we can free the silent and let them have a voice.
If we would only understand the power of prayer. I believe that if we truly understood the power of our prayers we would not just pray "now I lay me down to sleep." It is time to arise! Oh...it is time to stand up for this generation! It is time to see revival come to America! Not just at a spot here and there! It is time to see this nation be set fire with the fires of revival!
Jesus said to lay our hands on the sick and see them recover. It is time that we, the church, spot acting in fear, and act in faith! We have the power in our hands so it is time to arise! It is time to see this generation, my generation set on fire with the uncontrollable fire of God burning in all of us! It has started and it is time to see it spread!
So right now I am sounding the trumpet! I am calling a holy fast! I am gathering the people and I am saying it is time to pray! It is time to see this nation and this generation be set ablaze! Are you ready for it? Will you pray?
